Jim Beam maker chooses next chief supply chain officer
Suntory Global Spirits announced on August 25 that Manuel Cabañas will serve as Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer starting September 4, leading the entire global supply chain organization, including manufacturing, distribution, quality, procurement, and operations. Cabañas joined the company in 2000 and previously served as Vice President of Global Manufacturing. His predecessor, Alex Alvarez, will transition to the role of Chief Supply Chain Officer at Constellation Brands' beer division.
Alcoholic beverage manufacturer Suntory Global Spirits tapped Manuel Cabañas as its next SVP and chief supply chain officer, according to an Aug. 25 press release.
The change will take effect Sept. 4, with Cabañas set to lead the global supply chain organization, including manufacturing, distribution, quality, sourcing and operations for the company behind brands such as Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark. Cabañas, who has been with Suntory since 2000, will report to President and CEO Greg Hughes.
“Our supply chain organization is powered by extraordinary people who bring passion, expertise and commitment to everything they do,” Cabañas said. “I look forward to building on our strong foundation, continuing to strengthen our capabilities, and working together to support our growth ambitions while delivering the quality, innovation and reliability our consumers and customers expect.”
Most recently, Cabañas served as VP of global manufacturing for the company, leading the company's global manufacturing network and overseeing operational quality, safety and engineering capabilities.
"Over the course of his career, [Manuel] has earned tremendous respect across our company by consistently delivering results, developing teams and strengthening capabilities,” Hughes said in the release. “As we continue to strengthen our business and position ourselves for long-term growth, I am confident Manuel is the right leader to guide our supply chain into the future."
Cabañas will succeed Alex Alvarez, who is leaving the company to become SVP and chief supply chain officer for Constellation Brands’ beer division, which produces brands such as Corona and Modelo.
